BAT says consumer education is key

27 Jun 2019. The French government has asked that cigarette manufacturers pay for waste management of cigarette butts and submit a waste management draft plan by July 2019. BAT Public Affairs and Communication Director for France, Belgium and Luxembourg and member of the draft task group, Xavier Brunschvicg, spoke to TJI correspondent Xavier Sireyjol about BAT’s position on cigarette litter.

The regulators‘ worst nightmare?

27 Jun 2019. Ten years have passed since the US Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act (TCA) became law. Cigarettes (including make-your-own and roll-your own tobaccos and components) and smokeless tobacco products were included in the TCA. Cigars were not. They did not come under FDA regulation until the so-called Deeming Regulations were issued in May 2016. Tobacco to appeal liability ruling

27 Jun 2019. Major Canadian tobacco corporations have sought creditor protection after the Quebec Court of Appeal upheld two class action rulings. Appellants Imperial Tobacco Canada Ltd, Rothmans, Benson & Hedges (RBH) and JTI-Macdonald Corp are liable to pay CAD 13.6 billion (USD 10.2 billion) in damages to sick smokers, writes TJI Correspondent Keith Nuthall.
