12 Nov 2020. The Interior Ministry has declared that smoking in crowded streets and other public areas is banned in the whole of Turkey, reports Anadolu Agency.

Starting from now, people will no longer be allowed to smoke in crowded public areas across Turkey, including busy streets and bus stops where crowds of people are likely to gather.

According to Anadolu Agency, the announcement from the Interior Ministry was made in a circular to the governors of the nationís 81 provinces explaining the new measures that have been put in place to stop the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. Further measures include citizens over 65 years old having to stay home between 10 am and 4 pm.

There have been more than 402,000 COVID-19 cases and 11,613 deaths throughout Turkey so far.
