According to a new survey conducted for the Be-Lux branch of British American Tobacco, nearly 40 per cent of the population find vaping is a good way to quit smoking, reports The Brussels Times.
The survey by Insites Consulting questioned 737 Belgians who smoked both conventional and e-cigarettes and showed that 38 per cent cited quitting smoking tobacco as the main reason to start vaping. 32 per cent said it was because they thought e-cigarettes were better for their health.
The consequences of e-cigarettes on human health recently made the headlines in Belgium after a teenager was the first person in the country to die from a suspected vaping-related illness.
There are about 2 million smokers in Belgium with the proportion of those using e-cigarettes increasing annually by about 10 per cent, according to the survey.
