Broad limits on farm sizes, indicated by preliminary information from the state, are not part of California's rules to govern cannabis farming, production and sales from 1 January, the Associated Press reported.
The state released emergency rules for medicinal and adult-use cannabis regulations on 16 November, ahead of legal sales beginning 1 Jan. The state will begin issuing temporary licenses for growing, distributing and selling cannabis from this date and only some medium-sized growers' licenses have had limits placed on them, leaving other cultivators without caps.
A maximum 1-acre cap on most cultivators had been expected, the news agency said.
“There is no limitation for the other categories of licenses,” Steve Lyle of the state Department of Food and Agriculture was quoted as saying.
