German company Cph is to increase prices of its high-quality label adhesives as a result of the extremely severe and world-wide rise in raw material prices.

In a press release of today, Cph said that particularly the supply situation of hot melts and various products containing casein, and even those of a synthetic nature, is extremely disturbing and that the consequent impact on prices is cause for great concern.      
“We very much regret this state of affairs,” said CEO Gerwin Schüttpelz of Cph, which is based in Essen, Germany. “Despite our strict cost controls and the optimisation of our organisation structure and processes we have no choice but to increase our own prices.”
Schüttpelz expects that there will be serious bottlenecks in the supply of raw materials over the next four to five months and that, consequently, it will not be possible to deliver the desired volumes of adhesives at the times customers need them. 
He adds that it would of course be possible that during the second half of 2011 the world markets for raw materials will be less turbulent. “In that case, Cph Deutschland stands ready to reduce its prices whenever circumstances allow for it,” so Schüttpelz. (ci)
