Smoking has been banned inside the passenger buildings at all six international airports, Bangkok Post reported.

Airports of Thailand Plc (AoT), which manages Thailand’s six international airports, has announced that smoking will no longer be allowed from now on. Offenders caught smoking in an airport will be fined up to 5,000 baht (EUR 140), the report said.
Accoring to the report, the AoT closed all smoking rooms in offices and passenger terminals in all six airports – Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang, Phuket, Chiang Mai, Hat Yai and Mae Fah Luang. However smoking areas are now being arranged outside terminals.
Wing Cdr Sutheerawat, managing director of Suvarnabhumi, said the change of policy is in line with the 2017 Tobacco Control Act and a 2018 Public Health Ministry announcement, which requires all government agencies and state enterprises, including airports, to be non-smoking zones.
