Australian-based Amcor will pay USD 435 million (EUR 385 million) to acquire four South American plants capable of film extrusion, flexographic, gravure printing and lamination, the packaging group said.

Amcor said it would acquire the infrastructure by purchasing Alusa in Chile, a buy that includes Peruplast in Peru, Argentina’s Aluflex and Flexa in Colombia, from owners Techpack and Nexus Private Equity.
“With the creation of a new Flexibles Americas Business Group in July 2015, there was an expectation this business could accelerate growth in both North and South America,” said Amcor Chief Executive Officer Ron Delia. “It is pleasing that over a relatively short period of time, our flexible packaging sales in the region will almost double to nearly USD 1 billion with the acquisition of Alusa, and the recently completed acquisition of Deluxe Packages in the USA."
Alusa is the largest flexible packaging business in South America. Its clients include companies in the food, personal care and pet food industries.
