The Federal Court prohibits British American Tobacco Australia (BATA) to supply the ‘wallet pack’ which allows smokers to ignore health warnings.
Since the pack can be split into two, smokers can discard the health warnings, according to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).
The larger part of the packet did not contain the images and health warnings that appear on all tobacco products.
The ACCC took BATA to court late last year over what it claimed was a breach of the Trade Practices Act. BATA agreed to stop distributing the limited edition packs soon after.
