The government proposed banning all forms of advertising for tobacco products and codifying a ban on indoor smoking to strengthen its anti-smoking programme, Xinhua news service reported.
Published on the website of the legislative affairs office of the State Council, the government’s chief administrative body, the draft regulation is subject to a public consultation, the news agency said.
In addition to tobacco advertising, the draft proposes banning sponsorships and promotions. Spotty bans on indoor smoking in public places would be made subject to one law. Smoking outdoors near schools would be prohibited. The regulation would cut some smoking scenes from films and television shows, according to Xinhua.
