NEW ZEALAND
Ban on vape advertising

It is now illegal to sell vaping products to under 18s in New Zealand and all advertising and sponsorship of said products are also banned, reports RNZ.

The Cancer Society welcomed the change in law which also sees vaping banned in legislated smoke free areas as well as the phasing out of certain flavours except at specialist retailers over the next 15 months, according to RNZ.
Shayne Nahu, advocacy and wellbeing manager of the Cancer Society said the changes would make a big difference.
"We are seeing promotions at events that were really targeting young people, a number of the promotions are coming across as [if] they are cool vibrant products, almost like a lifestyle choice, which is not what they're about, they're there to help smokers stop," he said.
Nahu went on to say that vaping products should not be seen as a recreational choice and that the new changes to the law would be a big relief to school principals, teachers and parents.
"We've had two years without regulation and that has allowed the tobacco industry to get a foothold on the messaging around vaping.
"Vaping is not harmless, these laws will play a vital part in protecting children and non-smokers from a highly addictive product they simply don't need, while supporting people who smoke to switch and quit," Nahu said.
