British American Tobacco bought UK e-cigarette technology company CN Creative to expand activities in tobacco harm reduction, the cigarette maker said.
“Our core business is, and will remain in, tobacco but we’ve always made it clear that our goal is to provide those adult smokers who are seeking safer alternatives to cigarettes with a range of reduced-risk products that will meet their varying needs,” said Kingsley Wheaton, BAT director of corporate and regulatory affairs.
CN Creative operates research and development facilities and has several e-cigarete products on the market. There are “innovative” e-cigarette technologies in the pipeline, BAT said in a statement. (ci)
