British American Tobacco (BAT) has been named in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) for the 19th year running, according to a company press release.
BAT was once again recognized as an important sustainability leader coming out on top in 13 out of 23 categories and achieving a top score of 100 per cent in seven categories, according to the press release. The company was also the only tobacco company to be included in the prestigious DJSI World Index.
The DJSI was created by S&P Dow Jones Indices and represents the gold standard for tracking corporate sustainability. Around 3,500 companies took part in having their sustainability practices assessed against ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) criteria. Of those, only 10 per cent are recognised as leaders in corporate sustainability and included in the DJSI World Index.
Japan Tobacco Inc. (JT) was included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Asia Pacific Index (DJSI Asia Pacific) for the seventh time in 2020, according to a JT press release.
