British American Tobacco (BAT) might relocate its tobacco factory from Kanfanar, Croatia, to another country, SeeNews reported.
The factory in Kanfanar produces about 12 billion cigarettes per year. Its maximum annual production capacity is 20 billion units. If the factory moved, around 500 workers would lose their jobs and the Istrian peninsula would lose one of its industrial symbols, the report said.
BAT acquired the cigarette factory in 2015 with the takeover of the local tobacco producer Tvornica Duhana Rovinj (TDR).
