British American Tobacco (BAT) agreed to a USD 575 million (EUR 470 million) settlement with Flintkote Co to settle litigation filed against BAT’s Canadian unit in 2006, the Wall Street Journal reported.
BAT’s acquisition of Flintkote parent company Genstar led to the dispute over dividend payments and asbestos claims, the newspaper said on its website. BAT said it would obtain protection from future asbestos claims related to Flintkote, according to the report.
