The House of Representatives has ratified a bill that would regulate the importation, manufacture, sale, packaging, distribution and use of vaporized nicotine and non-nicotine products, reports PCI.

The bill would require the Department of Health (DOH) to issue guidelines of the implementation of smoking and vaping restriction awareness campaigns and all advertisement encouraging the use of vape products would be banned. According to PCI, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) would set technical standards for the safety, consistency, and quality of vape products in collaboration with the Food and Drug Administration.
All distributors, manufacturers and sellers would be given 18 months to adapt to the new rules and make sure they comply with the requirements of the bill such as registering vape products with the DTI.
House Deputy Speaker Rufus Rodriguez said the measure aims to give Filipinos who want to quit smoking an alternative, according to PCI.
