A package of tough anti-smoking measures that would require cigarettes be sold in plain black packs could be ready by autumn, the Hurriyet Daily News said in a story citing Health Minister Mehmet Müezuzzinoğlu.
Among the measures is a restriction on selling cigarettes within 100 metres of schools, a curb the industry says would eliminate about 22,000 tobacco sale points – one in six tobacco retailers, said the news organisation’s English-language website. Smoking outdoors also would be restricted.
“I expect it to be out in September or October, but also 2015 at the latest”, Müezuzzinoğlu said in the reported remarks.
