Toni Borg, the European Union’s new health and consumer affairs commissioner, has sent his predecessor’s revisions to the EU Tobacco Products Directive to the Commission for review, according to the website Maltatoday.
A revised directive under the helm of departed commissioner John Dalli was nearly ready for submission in October, when Dalli suddenly resigned in response to allegations of impropriety. Borg forwarded the ministry version for vetting before the European Commission makes its recommendations, Maltatoday reported. (pi)
