Scandinavian Tobacco Group (STG) named the managing director of its German operations, Regis Broersma, to replace Dan Carr as president of General Cigar Company in the US.
Carr had headed the maker of premium handmade cigars since 2010. Several cigar industry publications reported Carr was dismissed.
Handmade cigars account for about one quarter of net annual sales at STG, a Denmark-based global manufacturer of cigars and pipe tobacco. In conjunction with the appointment of Broersma, STG said Executive Vice President Craig Reynolds will assume responsibility for the global handmade cigar business, including General Cigar. Reynolds will continue as president of Cigars International, STG said.
