California state health officials announced an educational campaign against the use of e-cigarettes and called for stricter regulation, the Los Angeles Times reported.
"I'm advising Californians, including those who currently use tobacco, to avoid using e-cigarettes," said state health officer Dr Ron Chapman as quoted in the Times. Use of e-cigarettes renormalizes smoking behaviour and introduces a new generation to nicotine addiction, he reportedly said. The opening blow of the campaign was the release of a 21-page report by the state’s Department of Public Health, the Times said.
