A draft law seeks to stop tobacco companies from promoting their products via charitable donations, Xinhua news agency reported.
Makers of tobacco products would be prohibited from giving to charitable causes, including disaster relief. Prohibiting all forms of tobacco promotion would be in keeping with the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control, which China signed in 2003, Xinhua reported.
