From 12 July 2018, the price of cigarettes and tobacco products will increase by EGP 1.5 (EUR 0.07) per pack of cigarettes, Egypt Today reported.
Mohamed Haroun, the Chairman of one of Egypt's top cigarette manufacturers Eastern SAE, said in a televised interview that the increase in price was ratified by the government several months ago, according to the report.
This increase comes after the country amended its value-added tax (VAT) law which increased the price per pack of cigarettes by EGP 3.5 in November 2017. The price increase will be on both domestic and imported cigarettes, Egypt Today reported.
