British American Tobacco Korea and Japan Tobacco International will end distribution of less popular brands following a substantial government-mandated price increase, said the website Korea Bizwire.
BAT Korea will remove its Lucky Strike brand, with sales below 1 per cent, and JTI will stop distributing Mevius LSS light, Camel Silver and four Winston varieties, the website said. BAT also will stop sales of Dunhill Compact, sold in a 14-stick pack.
BAT’s Dunhill regular will increase to KRW 4,500 (EUR 3.50) a pack from 2,700, according to Bizwire. Together with Kent, the two BAT products account for more than 80 per cent of company sales, the website said.
