Philip Morris USA, R.J. Reynolds Tobacco and Lorillard Tobacco have raised their list or wholesale prices in the past week.
The Winston-Salem Journal reports that Reynolds has raised by USD 0.05 a pack its list price for wholesale and direct-buying customers on its Camel, Doral, Kool, Pall Mall, Salem and Winston brands.
Philip Morris raised its list price by USD 0.05 a pack for the majority of its brands, including Basic, Benson & Hedges, Cambridge, Chesterfield, Commander, English Ovals, L&M, Lark, Marlboro, Merit, Parliament, Player's, Saratoga and Virginia Slims.
Lorillard raised its wholesale price by USD 0.06 a pack, according to analysts.
Local tobacco wholesalers are quoted to say that most smokers won't feel the price hikes until early 2012.
Neither Reynolds nor Philip Morris increased the list prices on smokeless-tobacco products, likely because they are trying to steer smokers to those products. (pi)
