Ukrainian cigarette manufacturers made 72.1 billion cigarettes and registered an 8.8 per cent output increase year-on-year over the first seven months of 2007.

According to the recently released statistics, PM Ukraine retains its leadership with a market share of 33 per cent. The company made 23.8 billion cigarettes over the period showing a 9.2 per cent year-on-year growth rate. Reemtsma-Ukraine posted 7.1 per cent increase, with nearly 16 billion sticks produced over the first seven months. Statistics for JTI and Gallaher’s plants stand at 11.3 billion sticks (up 24 per сent) and 10.3 billion sticks (up 18 per cent) respectively. In constrast, BAT Ukraine once again posted a decline in output and produced 9.9 billon cigarettes, 6.3 per cent less than in the same period for 2006. The company accounts for 13 per cent of the country’s overall cigarette production compared to Reemtsma’s 22.1 per cent market share, JTI’s 15.7 per cent and Gallaher’s share of 14.3 per cent.
