Sales tax on domestic and imported cigarettes will be raised for the second time since July as the government of President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi acts to cut the budget deficit, the Associated Press said.
Tax on less expensive cigarettes will be increased at least 7 cents and by at least 20 cents for premium brands. Last July the cigarette tax was hiked 25 to 40 cents a pack, the AP reported.
