Higher cigarette taxes will be part of a long-term strategy approved by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung to reduce tobacco consumption, Viet Nam News (VNS) reported.
Tax on cigarettes presently accounts for about 45 per cent of the cost a pack of cigarettes with an average retail price of VND 20,000 (EUR 0.71). The tobacco control programme to run until 2020 also will include restrictions on cigarette trade, VNS reported. (pi)
