The Cayman Cigar Company has produced its first cigars using tobacco grown and hand-rolled in the Cayman Islands, reports the Cayman Compass.
The cigars are made up of a blend containing tobacco grown at Beacon Farms located in North Side and are hand-rolled in Bodden Town. Beacon Farms is a non-profit agricultural enterprise that helps recovering addicts turn their lives around, reports the Cayman Compass.
Non-profit Cayman Cigar Company is an extension of Beacon farms and has been exporting its cigars to the United States for a year. The cigar that contains Cayman grown tobacco is brand new and has only been sampled by selected cigar enthusiasts earlier in February. Co-founder of the Cayman Cigar Company, Scott Haugh, says he is very proud of its high-quality tobacco leaf and is hoping to make the cigar available to the public soon.
“This cigar is so new, it doesn’t even have a name yet, and the response to it has exceeded all our expectations. We are testing and tasting additional blends using this tobacco, and while it is not yet available, we hope to introduce our new cigar to the public very soon,” he said.
