Oettinger Davidoff formally opened a 14,500 m² (156,000 ft²) cigar factory and storage facility in Danlí, Honduras, in response to growing demand for its key Camacho brand and a stronger US market, the company said.

Before the factory was built, the Swiss-based cigar maker acquired tobacco plantations in the Condega region of Nicaragua and in the Jamastrán Valley in Honduras as part of the company’s “crop-to-shop” philosophy, said CEO Hans-Kristian Hoejsgaard. Danlí is in the heart of the tobacco region in Honduras.
In addition to Camacho, the plant will manufacture Baccarat, La Fontana, Legendario and National cigars for the US market, Davidoff said. Several production halls and cold rooms comprise most of the 11,000 m² manufacturing space with an additional 3,500 m² devoted to warehouses.
