Denver’s city council has voted to ban many flavoured tobacco products from store shelves, including menthol, reports The Denver Post.

The purchasing ban includes flavoured cigarettes, chewing tobacco and vape liquids. It leaves out shisha, pipe tobacco, and cigars. From July 2023, adults in the city will only be able to legally buy flavoured smoking products at hookah lounges or shops selling pipe tobacco and handmade cigars.
The flavour ban ordinance passed by a vote of 8-3 on 6 December. The vote ends a months-long debate between council members who argued that limiting access to flavoured products was essential to fighting youth smoking and vaping and members who saw the ban as government overreach more likely to hurt small business owners, the report said.
