Representatives of Russia’s Donskoy Tabak and China’s Hongta Group held talks on the production and sale of Hongta’s brands in Russia.
According to a Hongta press release, the meeting, which took place at the Hongta Group in China on 7 May, was attended by Savvidi Lvan Lgnatievich, president of Donskoy Tabak, the largest Russian independent tobacco factory, and Hongta president Liu Wandong, among others.
The project seems to be at an early stage. Liu said that the next step was for Hongta to investigate Russia’s cigarette market so that it could manufacture products that would appeal to local consumers. Hongta will strengthens cooperation with Donskoy Tabak, Liu added.
Donskoy president Lgnatievich said Hongta Group was a powerful partner with world-class equipment and management. Donskoy would be willing to cooperate with Hongta on brands, and help introduce Hongta's brands to the Russian market. (pi)
