President Rodrigo Duterte, known for his hard-line campaign against drug use, wants to ban public smoking, The Associated Press reported.
The Philippine leader wants public places to be 100 per cent smoke-free and could sign an executive order to ban smoking in public places before the end of October, Health Secretary Paulyn Ubial, was reported as saying.
The government wants the ban, which will restrict smoking of cigarettes, pipes and cigars and e-cigarette use to designated outdoor areas away from the public, to be in place before laws requiring graphic health warnings on cigarette packs take effect on 4 Nov, the Associated Press reported.
