An e-cigarette was responsible for causing a bomb alert at the German Environment Ministry in Berlin during a routine X-Ray check, reports AFP.
According to a ministry spokesperson, a suspicious object was discovered during routine X-ray checks of thicker mail. This led to the police being alarmed and the building being cordoned off while the shipment was examined by a special team.
The shipment turned out to be an e-cigarette that had been sent to the ministry by a disgruntled citizen. The woman had obviously wanted to pass on her anger about someone discarding an e-cigarette in her garden. Apart from the health risks associated with its use and a negative environmental assessment, the e-cigarette was found to be harmless, and the alarm was called off again, reports AFP.
