E-cigarettes and liquids were among alternative tobacco products banned from 15 Dec in phase one of a two-part programme that will add snuff and gutkha to the list in August, 2016, The Straits Time reported.
First-phase bans cover products not currently allowed in Singapore, and include dissolvable tobacco or nicotine, products containing nicotine or tobacco for application on the skin, by implants or injections. Smokeless cigars and cigarillos also were banned, the newspaper said on its website.
From 1 Aug, the second set of bans will remove products already on the market, including the flavoured chewing tobaccos khaini and zarda. The curbs were announced in June to prevent alternatives to combustible products from gaining a foothold, or become entrenched, The Straits Times said.
