An electronic marketing system to increase transparency and reduce corruption has been introduced and tested at one of three auction sites for the coming tobacco marketing season, The Herald reported.
Training sessions for buyers are being run by the Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board (TIMB), the newspaper said on its website. Farmers this year have planted 66,554 hectares of tobacco this year, up nearly 10,000 from the same period last year, The Herald said.
