England and Chelsea captain John Terry threatened the Indian government with legal action over use of an altered photograph of the footballer on cigarette warnings, the Telegraph reported.
Indian officials reportedly authorised use of a blurry image closely resembling the footballer that is stamped with a graphic showing lungs filling with black tar, the newspaper reported on 3 Jan. The pictorial warning and an anti-smoking message appear on Gold Flake cigarettes, the Telegraph reported.
A spokesman for Terry’s management agency said the image is that of the footballer and was used without permission. Terry’s solicitors have been instructed to begin legal action for violation of image rights, the spokesman told the Telegraph. (pi)
