Tobacco growers at Myrtleford, in north-eastern Victoria, will meet this afternoon to decide on their future.

A vote will be taken on a US$ 10 million British American Tobacco offer to end its contract with growers early. The tobacco company says it can buy cheaper leaves for its cigarettes overseas.
Farmer Colin Masterson expects his colleagues will vote in favour of the package.
"The reality of an industry is [it] no longer has got customers for their product – even though no-one likes closing an industry down, if you haven't got a market for your product there is not much use trying to produce it," he said. (pi)
