World Health Organisation (WHO) efforts to control tobacco will turn to the elimination of trade in illicit tobacco products from 29 March to 4 April when a panel meets in Geneva to finalise a draft protocol.
The draft will go to the fifth plenary session of the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) in Seoul this November for adoption. The March meeting of the FCTC’s Intergovernmental Negotiation Body also will hear the report of an informal FCTC panel on how to control and finance the control of the supply chain from tobacco-product manufacturer to consumer. Documents pertaining to the INB meeting can be found on WHO’s FCTC website. (pi)
