Food and Drug Administration (FDA) officials may propose banning online sales of e-cigarettes to keep them away from minors, the Wall Street Journal said in a story citing unnamed sources.
E-cigarettes currently are unregulated in the US. The FDA is expected to include them in a long awaited proposal to expand its regulatory authority over tobacco products. Mitch Zeller, director of the FDA’s Center for Tobacco Products, told the Journal he is working toward releasing proposed regulations in October.
Zeller declined to comment on content under consideration, according to the story on the Journal website.
