Federal drug and tobacco regulators warned the operator of smokers-mall.com against the sale of banned flavoured cigarettes and rolling tobaccos, making illegal health claims and wrongfully marketing products as drug-delivery devices.
It marked the first time the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Center for Tobacco Products joined another FDA center, the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, in issuing a warning letter, the CTP said. The letter was transmitted electronically, and gives the operator 15 days to respond. Clove-favoured cigarettes from Indonesia, a Bulgarian-made product and brands from major international cigarette makers were among products named in the FDA letter.
Smokers-mall.com says its offices and warehousing facilities are in Europe. The website offers direct shipments to customers as a means to reduce national duties on tobacco products.
