Filtrona Scientific Services added two testing machines at the Jarrow, UK, laboratory to develop new methods for testing Tobacco Specific Nitrosamines (TSNAs) and compounds in smoke and tobacco.
Installation of an Agilent 1200 series LC and an AB Sciex Mass Spectrometer (LC/MS/MS) will also significantly reduce analysis turnaround time, the company said in a statement.
“We have invested significantly in Filtrona Scientific Services’ facilities,” said Mike Taylor, director of scientific development. Compliance with increased tobacco legislation and regulatory requirements around the world has increased demand at independent laboratories, the company said. (ci)
