GERMANY
Final report: InterTabac and InterSupply

Around 12,100 visitors from all over the globe celebrated the comeback of the twin fairs in Dortmund, according to a press release from organisers Messe Dortmund GmbH.

InterTabac, the world’s largest trade show for tobacco products and smoking accessories and its twin InterSupply, the international trade fair for the production of tobacco goods, e-cigarettes, pipes and shishas took place from 15 to 17 September and with a total of 12,100 visitors across the three days were hailed as a huge success.
After a two-year break, the twin trade fairs came back stronger than ever with over 600 exhibitors from 69 countries filling nine halls and a broad programme for visitors to enjoy. Around 50 per cent of the visitors were international with a high number coming from the US and Canada. There were also a high number of visitors from Asia such as China, India, Indonesia and Japan. South and Central America were represented by countries like Chile, Brazil, Argentina or Mexico. The other 50 per cent of visitors were made up mainly of German visitors but also people who had come from Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, France and Turkey.
New editions such as the ‘International Cigar Pavilion’ and international superstars such as Mike Tyson, Ralf Moeller and Dan Bilzerian proved a huge success with exhibitors and visitors alike.
“The very good result and the positive feedback from industry insiders show that, even after the forced two-year break, the twin fairs in Dortmund are still the most important meeting place for the international tobacco industry,” said Sabine Loos, Managing Director of Westfalenhallen Unternehmensgruppe which owns and operates the Messe Dortmund venue.
90 per cent of InterTabac exhibitors said they would be returning next year, which is 7 per cent more than last time around indicating that exhibitors were fully satisfied.
