Imperial Tobacco will not have to pay a GBP 112.3 million (EUR 131.9 million) fine for alleged price fixing following a decision by the Competition Appeal Tribune to quash an April, 2010, ruling by the Office of Fair Trading (OFT).
Imperial said it will seek to recover legal costs incurred during the proceedings stemming from an OFT investigation that began in 2003.
“We take compliance with competition law very seriously and have always rejected the OFT’s suggestion that we acted anti-competitively or in any way contrary to the interests of consumers,” Imperial said in a 12 Dec statement. (ci)
