Domestic cigarette production in China rose 2.8 per cent from January through May to 1.1 trillion cigarettes, according to TobaccoChina Online.
Production in May was 192.1 billion sticks, the portal said without citing the source of its information. Cigarettes sold in May totaled 198.5 billion sticks, an increase of 3.6 per cent.
Through five months, sales of cigarettes identified as key brands increased 16.1 per cent to 832.6 billion sticks, or 16.7 billion cases, the web site reported. (pi)
