The federal government will not pursue its legal battle to overturn a court ruling blocking the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) from mandating large graphic warnings on cigarette packs, the Associated Press reported.
Attorney General Eric Holder in a letter to House Speaker John Boehner wrote the government will not appeal to the Supreme Court. A Washington appeals court last August blocked introduction of nine graphic warning labels.
According to the Associated Press, the FDA said it will begin work on a new set of warning labels that are compliant. (pi)
