Graphic warning labels will be put on cigarette packs in Cambodia beginning next month if the government approves a plan by the ministry of health, according to a government health official.
If the proposal by the ministry of health is approved by the government, the new labels would be tacked onto cigarette packs beginning mid-February.
Currently, only some cigarette companies in Cambodia print warning labels on their packs.
The labels are part of a wider government programme to limit tobacco use among the population, including a recently introduced measure in Kampot to prohibit smoking in all of the province's government health clinics. (pi)
