New rules on e-cigarette devices and packaging are due as early as October 2019, according to sources at the State Tobacco Monopoly, the China News Service reported.
In July, China’s National Health Commission said studies showed that the aerosol generated by e-cigarettes contains toxic elements and additives that pose health risks, according to CNS, ABC News reported. In 2018, companies in the Chinese e-cigarette industry invested at least CNY 1 billion (USD 140 million), according to the report.
The State Tobacco Monopoly did not respond to requests for a statement, ABC News said.
