Borgwaldt will become part of Hauni with immediate effect, retaining its management team and separate legal status. A sale price was not disclosed.
“Using the Borgwaldt brand we shall jointly continue to expand our analysis actitivies alongside our French subsidiary Sodim,” Hauni Executive Board Chairman Christopher Somm said.
Borgwaldt has about 150 employees around the world and a flavour business. Somm said adding a flavours unit would boost Haunit’s expertise as an international tobacco industry supplier. (ci)
Sodim makes metrology and measurement systems and was purchased from Imperial Tobacco. At the time, Hauni said acquiring Sodim would allow it to offer offline measuring and analysis instruments for the cigarette and filter sectors.
A separate statement from Borgwaldt management said the sale will create new growth opportunities with a strong partner. Both Borgwaldt and Hauni are based in Hamburg, Germany. (ci)
