Hauni has announced the launch of its new non-tobacco related materials (NTRM) detection and ejection system, the Tobaccoscan 5.

Hauni Maschinenbau AG said that the new four-colour laser system reliably detects virtually all NTRM at high scanning frequency, even those that were previously difficult or impossible to detect. According to its press release, after detection, the Tobaccoscan 5 would selectively eject NTRMs by using 160 quick-response valves and “without any appreciable loss of tobacco.”
The touchscreen-operated system can be fed up to 10 tonnes of tobacco per hour via a high-speed conveyor.
