Health Minister Marisol Touraine said cigarette and cigar brands with “glamorous” names will be barred in keeping with legislation mandating uniform presentation of tobacco products, RFI radio reported.
Touraine told RFI her ministry will issue a decree banning brands that give the impression it is chic to smoke. Cigarette brands subject to the decree will have one year to comply while cigars will be granted two years, RFI said. Product descriptions such as slim and super slim also would be banned.
