The Health Ministry on 16 Sept was expected to ask the Supreme Administrative Court to lift its injunction blocking introduction of the world’s largest cigarette-pack warning labels, the Bangkok Post reported.
Thailand had hoped to introduce graphic warnings covering 85 per cent of the front and back of cigarette packs from 2 Oct. Public Health Minister Pradit Sintawanarong said the injunction, issued in August, would financially damage nine tobacco companies that have adopted production to comply with the blocked regulation, the newspaper said.
